are you sure i'm not blond?

so i have this nice ups (uninterruptable power supply, for the non-geeks out there...an apc ee725bb for those of your who are geeky) to keep hank happy during t-storms. but it doesn't do me a whole lot of good if i don't attach everything to hank through it...

when i tried to dial-up on saturday afternoon, i got the error "the modem could not find a dial-tone...blah, blah, blah..." i checked the port with an actual phone, which worked. i swapped cables - that worked as well. then i realized that i had hooked the modem cable directly to the phone port and not through my ups. wow did i feel dumb. here i spend a bunch of money to protect hank, making sure the ups had lan, dsl, and modem support...and then i didn't even hook it up properly. i thought about seeing how long i could handle letting hank be unable to communicate with the outside world, but i didn't think my roommates would appreciate that (we all share him at the moment). thankfully, best buy is only a few minutes from my apt. :)

health update: still feeling crappy about every other day...not really sure what's going on...
