a few weekends ago, i watched one of my friends almost total her car. i've been in plenty of close calls (and a few that were beyond close calls), but i've never watched someone i know about to crash. it definitely changes the perspective!
she was following the car i was in and we made a right turn off the highway. she didn't see us because she was behind a large truck. by the time she knew we were turning, she had to slam on the brakes. in the heat of the moment, she mistakingly tried to make the turn. instead she jumped the median and almost t-boned a car waiting to come on the highway. luckily, the other driver was aware enough that he jutted out into traffic to avoid being hit.
had the situation been slightly different, we could have been hauling my friend away in an ambulance and towing her mangled car to the dump. but instead, she only had alot of mud, grass, etc get into her tire which caused air to leak out. it didn't even need to be patched -- just cleaned out! the angels were definitely watching!
